CQ BOARD SEARCH
Founded in 2018 and based in Brooklyn, NY, ChamberQUEER is a multifaceted organization with the mission of presenting and performing queer composers and musicians, and providing an inclusive space within classical music for both artists and audiences alike. CQ highlights LGBTQ+ voices in contemporary & historical music and reimagines the classical concert experience as a radically inclusive gathering space & musical community for the 21st century.
As ChamberQUEER continues to grow, we seek 2-3 new external board members who are interested in supporting the development of a grassroots queer art-making organization. Board members will serve three-year terms and serve as a working board - we are particularly interested in bringing on those with professional expertise in law, finance, and nonprofit governance.
Commitments include: attending quarterly board meetings on Zoom (usually scheduled on Monday evenings), assisting CQ with the expansion of its donor network by inviting new contacts to concerts and other events, operational advice and supervision (given appropriate experience), and a $1500 annual give-get. We estimate that board membership will require, on average, twenty hours annually.
ChamberQUEER is committed to building an inclusive and diverse community, including on our board. We welcome and encourage submissions from candidates of all backgrounds to apply regardless of specific skills, education, or professional histories. Reach out to us at danielle@chamberqueer.org to express interest or learn more - we can’t wait to chat with you!
